Calendar 2009: You don’t have to be rich and famous to make Bangalore better

Do you ever find yourself complaining about the problems we have in Bangalore?  High traffic, poor infrastructure, the widening gap between the rich and the poor, corruption – only to conveniently blame it all on the government?

Yet, deep down we all know that real change only takes place when each and every Banglorean takes the responsibility to bring change about.

Mahatama Gandhi asked us to “Be the change you want to see in the world“. And in the upcoming year 2009, we’re dedicating the Vakil calendar to those unsung heros of Bangalore who have indeed become the change we would like to see.

The broad theme for the calendar will be ‘Shouldering Responsibility‘. And every calendar page will feature a common Bangalore citizen who has taken the initiative of making Bangalore a better place.

Here’s a chance for you to contribute to this effort. If you know of anyone whom you feel should be featured on this Calendar, please contact us no later than the 10th of October.

There’s also a good video that captures the essence of our theme — the Lead India campaign done by the Times Group:

Do send your recommendations in, by Emailing us the following details:

* Name of the person/organization
* Contact details (email, telephone #, address)
* Brief summary of why you think they should be featured in the calendar.

Your assistance will help keep the spirit of change shining bright in all of us.
